DeMarcus Cousins Whistled for Technical After Tossing Shoe
Golden State Warriors center DeMarcus Cousins had the best game of this season on Monday. He helped the Warriors to a 121-110 victory against the Charlotte Hornets. However, a technical foul that he was handed during the fourth quarter left him upset. DeMarcus Cousins was penalized after he tossed a shoe off the court.
The incident occured with just less than five minutes remaining in the game. One of the shoes of Hornets player Jeremy Lamb came off close to the foul line.
Cousins was near where the shoe was and he picked it up and tossed it over to the sideline. As soon as the shoe landed off the court, one of the officials whistled Cousins for a technical foul.
Cousins said he could not believe he was handed a technical. He added that next time he would just step on it and turn his ankle or break it.

Cousins said the officials told him he was given the technical because you cannot throw shoes.
Golden State teammates were surprised as well about the call, while coach Steve Kerr said he never had seen officials enforce that rule, and added that he did not even know anything about the rule.

Golden State guard Stephen Curry added that he had seen that rule enforced on many occasions and noted sarcastically that Cousins needed to toss the shoe slower.
Cousins had has been game as a Warrior scoring 24 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. He also had three blocks and three assists.
Kerr said Cousins looked happy on the court and that the big man looked the best he has since joining the team after sitting out almost a full year recovering from an Achilles tendon tear.
Cousins played 31 minutes, which is a high for the season, after having his playing time capped at 25 minutes in games he played prior to the break for the All-Star Game.
