DeMarcus Ware Announces His Retirement From NFL

Former Troy Trojan DeMarcus Ware tweeted an announcement Monday afternoon proclaiming “It’s time…”

Ware will retire from the NFL after 12 seasons and a Broncos Super Bowl ring.

Ware was recruited out of Auburn High School by the Trojans. He would finish his Troy career as the program’s all-time leader in tackles-for-loss with 55.5 and was named the 2004 Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year.

Ware went on to be the 11th overall draft pick in the 2005 NFL draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He would play for the Cowboys from 2005-2013. He ended his run with the Cowboys as the franchise leader in sacks with 117 sacks in nine season.

Ware would leave Dallas to sign with the Denver Broncos prior to the 2014 season. He played three seasons with the Broncos and was part of a Super Bowl team in his second year with the team.

He ends his 12-year career as eighth all-time in the NFL in sacks with 138.5 and was a nine-time Pro Bowl selection.
