The NBA calendar for Tuesday features a Western Conference matchup when the Denver Nuggets visit the Dallas Mavericks. The current line has Denver favored by 1 point with the over/under point total on 212.5.

Entering this game, Denver has a record on the season of 38-42 straight up and 44-36-2 against the spread. On the road, the Nuggets are 16-23 SU and 22-17 ATS. Dallas on the season is 32-48 SU and 42-37-1 ATS. At home, the Mavericks are 21-19 SU and 24-16 ATS.

Denver led Oklahoma City for most of its game Sunday prior to a last second shot eliminating the Nuggets from postseason contention. Denver will now just finish out its season with its two remaining games including Tuesday’s visit to Dallas.

The Nuggets led by double digits during the second half but could not hold on in the end against Russell Westbrook and his Thunder teammates.

Dallas was knocked out of playoff contention last month, has lost four consecutive games and eight of its past nine overall.

Denver has lost five of its past eight games and will miss the postseason for the fourth consecutive season. Nikola Jokic has given Denver optimism for the future. The Nuggets center averaged 19.7 points, 11.3 rebounds and 5.7 assists after January 1.

Jokic, along with Gary Harris, Jamal Murray and Emmanuel Mudiay are all 20 to 22 years of age, giving the Nuggets an excellent core of young talented players.

Dallas’ defense allowed Phoenix to shoot 55% in Sunday’s loss to the Suns 124-111. The Mavericks are allowing 109 points per game during their current losing streak of 4 straight games.

Dallas will play its entire bench in this game to get looks at rookies who have been seldom used this season.

Dallas guard Seth Curry will not play due to a shoulder injury.

Denver forward Danilo Gallinari scored 34 points, his season high, on Sunday.

Denver is 2-1 SU this season against Dallas.

Denver is 8-2 ATS in its past 10 games on the road.

Dallas is 4-1 ATS in its past 5 games versus Northwest division opponents.

Prediction: Denver may have been eliminated from playoff contention but their young talent will not tank like Dallas has. Lean here toward the Nuggets.
