With the NFC East division currently up for grabs, the Washington Redskins head into Week 6 against the New York Jets with hopes of getting back to .500 in an attempt to inch closer to the first place New York Giants.

Unfortunately for Washington, the team will be without star wide receiver DeSean Jackson once again. According to John Keim of ESPN, Jackson has been ruled out with the persistent hamstring injury.

Washington Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson was downgraded to out and will miss his fifth straight game because of a strained left hamstring, further hampering a team with a growing injury list.

Despite being without wide receiver DeSean Jackson for the first five games of the season, the Redskins have played better than expected. No on anticipates Washington being in the playoff hunt, but it may not be out of the realm of possibility with the NFC East division being among the weakest in the league this season.

As of right now, the Jets are favored to come out on top against the Redskins with a -7 point spread, according to Sportsbook.ag.

Although the Jets weren’t considered to be much of a threat in the AFC coming into the 2015 NFL campaign, New York is sporting arguably the best defense in the league. The Jets are currently in second place in the AFC East division with only one loss on the year thus far.

The Jets will have a few advantages coming into this matchup which should propel them to victory for a fourth time this season. New York’s defense should contain Washington’s offense with Darrelle Revis and company creating havoc for quarterback Kirk Cousins.

New York will also be playing on their home field at MetLife Stadium. Despite the loss to the visiting Philadelphia Eagles back in Week 3, the Jets should make easy work of the Redskins while covering the point spread.
