Desmond Ridder: ‘It’s Hard To Miss’ London And Pitts

Second year Atlanta Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder is looking forward to building on the connection he made with his teammates last year.

Desmond Ridder took over as the starter for Atlanta’s final four games of 2022 and acquitted himself well.

Fellow rookie, wide receiver Drake London also excelled when Desmond Ridder began to start games. With Ridder, London had 25 catches on 36 targets for 333 yards. As well as that, London had his first 100-plus yard game against Tampa Bay in Week 18.

Tight end Kyle Pitts is expected to be another prime target for Ridder. Due to injury, the pair didn’t have the chance to build chemistry together. Ridder says building a relationship with his on-field targets this offseason will be crucial.

“Obviously, Drake and I had a great connection last year,” Ridder said.

“For myself and Kyle, we didn’t get as many reps as we’d like to last year. So for me it was just about keep developing that relationship with Drake, and then obviously build that relationship with Kyle. Whether it’s playing golf on the weekends or actually being out there and working on our crafts together, and just growing that connection both on and off the field.”

The Falcons also have Mack Hollins, Scotty Miller and Jonnu Smith waiting in the wings pass pass catchers. However, it’s the size and ability to cover big spaces of London and Pitts that makes them such tantalizing options.

“The easiest thing for me is just putting it where they can get it,” Ridder said.

“They’re two monsters outside of the ball. Just put it in their vicinity and they’re able to go up and get it. The hardest thing would probably be missing, just because they’re so big and they can cover a wide range of area. So, you know, it’s hard to miss them.”
