Dez Bryant: Who Wouldn’t Want to Play with Drew Brees?
After signing with the New Orleans Saints, Dez Bryant has outlined his reasons for joining the team.
It feels as though the veteran wide receiver has been in free agency forever. In reality, Dez Bryant has only been looking for a team since April.
Dez Bryant in that time has visited the Baltimore Ravens and the Cleveland Browns. However, he didn’t sign with them, and had opportunities with other teams that he didn’t take.
Speaking on Thursday, Bryant said that it was his teammates in New Orleans that made the move exciting to him. In particular, Drew Brees.

“For one, who wouldn’t want to play with Drew Brees?” Bryant said.
“Not taking away from nobody else, but a guy like Drew Brees. Like I said, you got a guy like Michael Thomas, [Benjamin ] Watson, Alvin Kamara, Mark Ingram — you got those types of guys — little baby GOATs around here.”
Over eight Cowboys seasons, Bryant became one of the mainstays of the Dallas passing offense. He had 531 catches for 7,459 yards and 73 touchdowns. The prospect of him teaming up with Brees, the league’s all-time passing and completion leader, is tantalising.
After searching for a team for so long, Bryant is now in contention to play in NFL game on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. Although he isn’t guaranteed to start, he is enjoying being back in football.
“It was kind of like first day of school,” Bryant told NFL Network’s Jane Slater.
“Having that sit-down with coach Payton got me excited. The guys here got me excited. These guys out here they love ball. They’re fun to talk to. It’s cool.”

However, he wasn’t going to confirm whether or not he will start on Sunday.
“We’re going to keep that closed right now,” Bryant said. “We just still working. We’re going to see what happens.”
