Dolphins will look to trade veteran CB Jalen Ramsey

The Miami Dolphins are set to move on from star cornerback Jalen Ramsey. During a press conference on Tuesday, general manager Chris Grier voiced that the Dolphins plan to trade the former Pro Bowler.

“Really after a couple weeks of discussions between ourselves internally and Jalen and his representation, we decided that it was probably in the best interest for all parties to move forward,” Grier said via ESPN. “I will say these decisions aren’t done quickly and they’re not taken lightly because we spent a lot of time this offseason working through this, talking through things. At the end of the day, Jalen did not ask for a trade.

“We went through the process, and I just felt that after numerous conversations and then talking last week with Jalen and his agent, that it was best to move forward, and it was best interest of the Miami Dolphins and for Jalen Ramsey.”

Miami acquired Ramsey from the Los Angeles Rams in a trade in March 2023. In return, he agreed to a restructured three-year, $55 million extension.

He earned a Pro Bowl selection despite missing seven games in the 2023 campaign. It led to him inking a three-year, $72.3 million extension before the 2024 season, putting him under contract through 2028.

However, he’s coming off 60 total tackles, 11 pass deflections and two interceptions while playing in all 17 games.

Ramsey is set to earn roughly $25 million for the 2025 season, which includes an $18 million dead cap hit if traded.
