Dont’a Hightower, Danny Amendola ruled out for Patriots in Week 2
The New England Patriots came into Week 1’s matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs with high hopes of getting a win over their home field to get off their Super Bowl title defense on the right foot. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, and they lost two of their best players to injury.
In Week 2, the Patriots will try to bounce back as they’re set to go on the road to face Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints. Unfortunately, Dont’a Hightower and Danny Amendola will not be on the field when they try to get their first win of the season, according to Darin Gantt of Pro Football Talk.
The Patriots are going to be a little short-handed when they try to break their one-game losing streak.
The team has ruled out linebacker Dont’a Hightower and wide receiver Danny Amendola for Sunday’s game against the Saints.
Losing these two players is costly on both sides of the football. Hightower is arguably the team’s best defensive player while Amendola is one of Brady’s favorite targets in the passing game.
Although Amendola will be sorely missed on offense, losing Hightower for Week 2 may be the most costly injury. The Patriots were exposed in Week 1 by the Chiefs for their problems on defense and not having Hightower in Week 2 doesn’t bode well for their chances of slowing down Brees and company in New Orleans.
New England may be one of the best teams in the league at bouncing back, but they’ll have their work cut out for them in Week 2.
