Eagles Look To Remain Undefeated Versus ‘Niners
The Philadelphia Eagles are undefeated and are ready to face what is likely their biggest challenge to date in the San Francisco 49ers.
The word “likely” is sprinkled in that sentence because the 49ers have not been playing well as of late, and have us wondering if this team that came into the season among the favorites to win the Super Bowl is perhaps overrated.
The 49ers will be fighting and uphill battle to prove their naysayers wrong. The Eagles have dominated this series over the last few season. They are 5-1 in against the spread in their last six meetings with the 49ers. San Francisco still has not won a game in Levi’s Stadium.
Despite those trends the 49ers are the favorites to win this one with a -4 point spread. They bounced between -5 and -6 point favorites throughout the week before settling in at -4 this morning.
The total is at 50 and has seen very little in regards of notable movement throughout the week. Philadelphia is 8-2 on the over in their last 10 road games, while San Francisco is 10-3 for over in their last 13 home games against NFC East opponents. Also Phillies defense has allowed 61 points this season, and Nick Foles and his offense has had no trouble finding the endzone on their end of the ball.
The Eagles know how to win on the road. They are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven road games. One of those games include a 30-27 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2 when they were 3-point underdogs. On top of that it looks as though the Eagles have a good chance at surpassing over nine wins, which means bettors who put money down on that future bet are feeling good about themselves.
The Eagles offensive line has suffered some injuries, though and many blame coach Chip Kelly’s fast-paced offense. That is the only real concern for those betting on the Eagles.
Meanwhile, the ‘Niners are 2-9-2 against the spread in 13 home games against NFC East opponents and their poor second-half performance as of late gives reason to be concerned. The 49ers have been outscored 31-0 in the final 15 minuets of games and 52-3 after halftime so far this season.
