Early Look at Saturday Odds
Odds for the second round of the NCAA tournament have been posted for Saturday’s games. As always, bettors are taking a stand on certain teams and oddsmakers are reacting in some games and doing little in others.
West Virginia opened as a 2.5-point favorite over Notre Dame. The Mountaineers are now -3 in aslight reverse line move. The total has climbed from 144 to 145.5.
Villanova is -5.5 over Wisconsin after opening as 5-point favorites. The total has climbed slightly to 128.
The Florida Gators are -1.5 over Virginia and the total has dropped slightly to 126.
Florida State is getting hit by the wise guys for the second straight game, even though the Seminoles didn’t cover against FGCU. The Seminoles opened -5.5 over Xavier and are now favored by 6 with Xavier getting a small majority of the bets. The total has stayed at 151.
Oddsmakers weren’t too impressed with Middle Tennessee State’s win, as they are 4-point underdogs to Butler. Butler opened -3.5 and have received just one-third of the wagers, so slight reverse line movement in this one. The total has dipped to 139.5.
No change in the Purdue game, as the Boilermakers are still favored by 1. The total has climbed from 151 to 152.
Gonzaga is -11 over Northwestern after opening -10. The total has basically stayed the same, with some sportsbooks offering 136.5 and others holding at 137.
Arizona has moved to -4.5 over Saint Mary’s after opening as 2,5-point favorites. The Wildcats are getting more than 80 percent of the bets as of late Friday afternoon. The total on the game is holding at 158.5.
Syracuse is favored by 7 over Mississippi and the total is at 158.5.
The biggest public bets right now are Arizona, Syracuse, Villanova and Middle Tennessee State as far as sides go. In totals the most popular play has been over in the Gonzaga game, closely followed by over in the Notre Dame and Villanova games.
