Early UFC June Preview
It is a short month for the UFC in June with only two big events planned.  First, on June 8, UFC on Fuel 10 will kick off this month in the UFC. Then on June 15, the UFC’s monthly pay-per-view event UFC 161 will be coming to your local bar and/or television set. Despite only two big UFC events this month we still have a lot of interesting fights coming up this month to watch and bet on.
Nogueira vs Werdum
In the main event for UFC on Fuel 10 we will see a rematch between two veteran heavyweights.  Fabricio Werdum and Minotauro Nogueira, collide in an effort to make their case that they should be the next in line to receive a title shot against Cain Velasquez. Both Werdum and Nogueira like to utilize their background in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in their fights so it will be interesting to see if this MMA match up does not look more like a Jiu-Jitsu competition.
Nogueira has not officially tasted UFC gold as he was only an Interim-Heavyweight Champion and he would love nothing more than to be the full fledged Heavyweight Champion before he ends his career. However, in his way is Werdum, who is considered by many to be one of the top 3 heavyweights in the world. He also has the distinct honor of being the first fighter to knockout the legendary Fedor Emelianenko.
This fight should be a good one that could very well shake up the heavyweight rankings. The early odds at Bovada has Werdum as the favorite with a money line at -300.
Davis vs Sexton
The UFC continues to show off its newly christened women’s division with this fight pairing Alexis Davis taking on Rosi Sexton. Â While the champ Ronda Rousey seems to be on a collision course with Cat Zingano, these two ladies will be looking to at least get into the title talks with a win in this fight.
Sexton will be looking to utilize her experience in this fight and keep this fight standing where she will have the advantage.  Davis will try to use her weight advantage to bring the fight to the ground as her strength is grappling and submission. Look for both these fighter to use drastically different strategies in what should make for an interesting fight.
Bovada has yet to release the lines on this fight.
Henderson vs Evans
Both Rashad Evans and Dan Henderson have come close to getting a shot at reigning Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones. However, both has recently suffered critical losses that dashed their title hope in the near future. The winner of this UFC 161 main event fight will likely move up the rankings and move one step closer to getting a shot at Jones.
Both these guys posses immense knockout power, though, Evans has a terrific background in wrestling and will likely want to completely take the KO option out of Henderson’s arsenal by taking the fight to the ground. Evans is also a great submission fighter so keeping the fight on the ground is to his advantage.  Another thing to consider is both these fighters are conditioned to go the distance, however, a long fight that goes all five rounds favors Evans as he will rack up points throughout the fight via take downs and stay on top from the ground.  Henderson’s best shot at winning is via early KO.
Bovada has Evans as the slight favorite in the opening odds with am money line at -125. Henderson’s money line is set at -105.
