Elton Brand Promoted to Philadelphia 76ers GM

According to reports, Elton Brand is set to become the new general manager for the Philadelphia 76ers. The 76ers have been waiting since June to replace Bryan Colangelo, who resigned in June.

Elton Brand will replace Colangelo, who was the subject of an investigation prior to his resignation. He was found to be “careless and in some instances reckless” as he shared sensitive team information on Twitter.

Elton Brand is expected to be announced as the new Philadelphia 76ers’ president of basketball operations on Thursday.

Brand has significant history with the Philadelphia 76ers, and it seems his appointment will be well received by the players.

“Elton has been not only a friend, but also someone who I’ve looked up to for a long time,” Sixers reserve guard Jerryd Bayless said. “He’s been preparing for this moment, and I’m happy for him it has come sooner rather than later.”

“Since we were teammates, I have always been so impressed with EB’s work ethic and professionalism,” reserve point guard T. J. McConnell said. “I’m really happy for him, and I know he’ll carry those same traits into his new job.”

It seems the right choice for Philadelphia, who interviewed Utah Jazz assistant general manager Justin Zanik for the role. As well as that, they interviewed Houston Rockets vice president Gersson Rosas.

As well as promoting Brand, the team also promoted Alex Rucker to executive vice president of basketball operations on Tuesday. Rucker was the Rucker was the senior vice president of analytics and strategy.
