Final Days Of NBA Season Preview: Southwest Division

We only have two days of basketball left to play.  There are three games tonight and a whopping 15 games tomorrow.  You only have two days left of bet on the NBA season before you start coming up with a strategy for your playoff bet.  Here is a preview for the Southwest Division’s final two days of basketball.

Utah Jazz vs Memphis Grizzlies

Like predicted by BettingSports, the playoff race between the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Lakers is coming down to the final game.  In order for the Jazz to get into the playoffs the Lakers must lose their game (more on this game further down) on Wednesday while the Jazz must defeat the Memphis Grizzlies on the road.

The Jazz are not a very good team when they are playing away from Utah.  They have an atrocious 13-21 away game record. The Jazz won their most recent encounter with the Grizzlies 84-90 back in mid March, however, this game was a home game.  The last time the Jazz face the Grizzlies in an away game was at the very beginning of the season in November where they lost 103-94.

Minnesota Timber Wolves vs San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs came very close to catching the Oklahoma City Thunder to grab the No. 1 seed in the playoffs.  However, a two game losing streak for the Spurs while the Thunder went on a win streak have dashed the Spurs hope of catching the Timber Wolves.  San Antonio will be looking to just get through this game with no injuries as they begin to prepare for their playoff run.

Los Angeles Lakers vs Houston Rockets

This could be the most important game of season for the Lakers.  The game will be less important, though, if the Jazz lose on Wednesday evening at they play first.  That is a game that the Lakers will likely be paying close attention to before this game begins.

If the Jazz win the Lakers will be in a must win situation in order to keep their playoff hopes alive.  The Lakers are behind in their season series with the Rockets at 2-1.  However, their losses to the Rockets have occurred when the Lakers are visiting Houston.  The only time this season (back in November) that the Rockets visited Los Angeles the Lakers came out on top.  In this game the Lakers have the luxury of playing at home.
