Frank Martin’s Latest Freakout Earns Him One-Game Suspension
On Tuesday the always animated Frank Martin, coach of the tragically abysmal South Carolina men’s basketball team, got a little too animated with his players in the second half of a 72-46 blowout loss at home to No. 1 ranked Florida.
On Thursday he got suspended.
Martin was caught on camera getting up close and personal with Duane Notice, the Gamecocks freshman point guard. The video of his tirade has since gone viral and the picture being painted of Martin has not been a flattering one.

Though there was no audio captured on the video—one thing he can be thankful for—it’s not necessarily required to capture the full essence of the ugly scene. As Deadspin noted, at one point Martin can clearly be seen screaming, “Answer the fucking question, asshole!â€
Carolina’s athletic director Ray Tanner said of the outburst, “The one-game suspension is a result of inappropriate verbal communication as it relates to the well-being of our student athletes.†Martin had also gotten yelly with forward Michael Carrera earlier in the second.
This certainly isn’t anything new for Martin, who has a history of similar behavior and a reputation for being a drill sergeant with his players. Although, that’s not entirely fair…to drill sergeants.
In January Martin was forced to apologize at a press conference for an equally excessive tongue lashing he bestowed upon senior guard Brenton Williams during a one-point loss to Ole Miss.
A month later Mr. Rage Issues was at it again, putting on quite the performance at his post-game press conference after losing to LSU.
The one-game suspension means Martin will miss South Carolina’s regular season finale against Mississippi State. Something tells me the presence of the second-year head coach will not be missed on Saturday.
