Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. Says Injury Will Take ‘6-8 Weeks’ To Heal
The New York Giants suffered a major blow to their offense during the NFL preseason with superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. going down with an ankle injury. Beckham’s injury has carried over into the regular season with no timetable set for his return.
This week, Beckham provided an interesting detail about his ankle injury. The perennial Pro Bowler claims the healing process takes as much as two months, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN.
“I don’t really know how realistic it was,” Beckham said. “As bad as I wanted to play, it just wasn’t there. It had been three weeks after the injury. It hasn’t even been a month since it happened. This is a six- to eight-week thing. Unfortunately, as much as I was trying my hardest to get there, it just wasn’t enough time.”
If Beckham isn’t 100 percent healthy until two months pass, the Giants could be without arguably their best player for quite some time. In fact, it may derail the team’s season considering how the offense fell flat against the division rival Dallas Cowboys.
The Giants will once again be put to the test in Week 2 against the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football. Matthew Stafford and company are coming off a win against the Arizona Cardinals and will pose a challenge for Eli Manning and company, especially if Beckham is unable to get on the field for a second straight week in the regular season.
