Indiana Pacers Lose 5th Straight

The Indiana Pacers fell to their 5th straight defeat on Wednesday night. The 122 – 101 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks cemented their longest losing streak of the NBA season.

The Pacers’ best player, Victor Oladipo was out with a sore knee. Indiana is 0-5 without him this season, and 0 – 4 without him during the current losing streak. Meanwhile, Bucks MVP candidate Giannis Antetokounmpo was in fine form. He finished the game with 31 points and 10 rebounds.

Indiana is now 19-19 for the season, while the Bucks are 20-16. The Pacers should have a better record than Milwaukee at this point of the season, if not for their poor recent form.

This was another poor Pacers performance, despite the fact that four Indiana players hit double figures on the night. This includes Domantas Sabonis, who scored a career high 24 points.

After the game, Sabonis said: “This is frustrating. Nobody likes to lose.”

On Christmas, Indiana was 19 – 14 and looking strong. Disappointing results have seen them fall to a .500 rated team. Before the losing streak, they were in the conversation in the Eastern Conference. Now, missing the playoffs is a real possibility.

In the absence of Oladipio, the Pacers now rely on Myles Turner, from whom they are expecting results. It hasn’t worked out that way, though. Turner scored just one point in 19 minutes against the Minnesota Timberwolves in their last game. He failed to make an impact again against the Bucks, with just 9 points, 6 rebounds and 1 block.

The Pacers play next at home against the Chicago Bulls. As yet, there is no guarantee that Victor Oladipo will return to the court. His status is “day-today” according to coach Nate McMillan. He will be reevaluated on Thursday, and his return would be a huge boost to a Pacers team in desperate need of a win.
