Iowa State @ Kansas Preview

NCAA1

Tonight two ranked teams will clash as the N0. 6 Kansas takes on No. 16 Iowa State.

Both teams have similar overall records. Kansas is 15-4 while Iowa State is 15-3.  However, Iowa State has struggled in the Big 12 division (3-3), while Kansas is 6-0, undefeated in the Big 12.One thing is for sure Iowa State feels they can beat Kansas and in doing so it could climb further up the AP rankings.

These two teams clashed back on Jan. 13. Kansas would win the game 77-70. Depending on who you talked to, either Kansas defense halted the Cyclones offense by holding them to four for 25 from behind the arc or Iowa state simply had an unlucky night. Iowa State fans feel it is the latter. Even Georges Niang, who normally averages 15 points a game, was held to just four of 20 on shooting. It is important to note that Iowa State has historically struggled offensively against Kansas. Blame on Big 12 rivalry jitters or Kansas defense, either way Iowa State will need to get it in check in order to get their first win in Kansas territory since 2005.

Meanwhile, Kansas has a lot to be confident about heading into this game. They are 6-0 in the Big 12 and are averaging an astonishing 1.19 points per possession. Yes, that means, on average, nearly every time this team touches the ball they score. Kansas is coming off a dominating victory over TCU, 91-69.  IN that game freshman Andrew Wiggins had a career-high 27 points. Wiggins is going to be key to Kansas sucess in this game. Wiggins picked up 17 points and 19 rebounds in Kansas’ victory over Iowa State earlier this month.

According to the spread at BetOnline, Kansas is the -8.5 favorites to win this game. You can watch the game on ESPNU at 8 p.m. ET.
