Jameis Winston Could Be Out For Season With Knee Injury

Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Devin White is praying for Jameis Winston after Sunday’s loss to the New Orleans Saints.

Devin White is responsible for a potentially significant injury to the Saints quarterback. He pulled Jameis Winston down and as a result, Winston landed awkwardly on his leg.

New Orleans could be without Jameis Winston for the rest of the season. White and Winston are former teammates at the Bucs, and the linebacker hopes his friend can come back soon.

“Because, man, Jameis is a good guy. He’s a great guy. I’m gonna put an emphasis on that,” White said.

“All last year when they [were] playing and we [were] playing, he was texting — I don’t know if he was texting everybody, but me and him [were] close. When I came in, he kinda showed me around — and just telling me how proud he was of me. Even when we won a Super Bowl, he was one of the first texts, like, ‘Congratulations, man. I wish I could be a part of that, but y’all deserve it. You put a lot of work in, and we always talked about how special you all could be.’

“He’s a great guy. You hate to see that happen. I hope it’s not serious, man. I’m just praying for him. But it’s a long season. [I] hope he can come back and fight with his team.”

Saints head coach Sean Payton was in an emotional state over the condition of his quarterback after the game. “I cried when I saw him coming in,” said Payton. “It’s hard.”

Backup signal-caller Trevor Siemian came on and steered the Saints to victory. It remains to be seen whether Siemian or Taysom Hill will start in the next game against the Atlanta Falcons.
