Jarran Reed Suspended for 6 Games

Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Jarran Reed has been hit by an NFL suspension for a 2017 personal conduct violation.

Jarran Reed will be suspended for the first 6 games of the NFL regular season. The domestic incident from 2017, in which Jarran Reed was accused of assault, never resulted in an arrest.

However, players can still be punished for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy, and that’s what happened to Reed.

The noise coming from the Seahawks and Reed is standard fare for this type of incident. In a statement Seattle said that the team had “followed league and law enforcement protocol since the alleged incident in April of 2017”.

Reed himself posted on social media following the NFL’s decision.

“I apologize to those close to me including my family, the Seattle Seahawks organization and the fans of the team for putting myself in a position where I could be disciplined by the NFL. While I totally disagree with the decision of the NFL, I must accept it and take responsibility for the situation. I have learned from this and will do everything I can to make my friends, family, teammates, fans and the Seahawks organization proud of me moving forward.”

That is quite a cold statement, even for this type of thing. Reed’s apathy towards the situation comes across here, and not just because he openly disagreed with the NFL.

Sure, he made sure to hit all the main points. His family, the fans, and the Seahawks organization. However, it’s a cookie cutter statement that won’t endear anybody to him when he makes his comeback.

Reed will miss games against the Cincinnati Bengals, Pittsburgh Steelers, New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Rams and the Cleveland Browns.
