Jazz will buyout veteran guard Jordan Clarkson

After five and a half seasons with the Utah Jazz, veteran guard Jordan Clarkson will be on the move once again.

The Jazz and Clarkson are coming to terms on a contract buyout, which will make him a free agent and able to sign with a new team during NBA free agency, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.

Jordan Clarkson is finalizing a contract buyout with the Utah Jazz, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania, which will make the veteran guard an unrestricted free agent.

He will target contending clubs for his new home, and interest from multiple playoff teams is already expected.

Clarkson had a successful stint in Utah, where he won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award for his efforts during the 2020-21 season.

The Jazz appear to be busy in their attempt to reshape their roster, as they have already made some moves ahead of the start of NBA free agency.

Utah is shuffling its roster following a draft in which it acquired two talented young guards in Ace Bailey and Walter Clayton Jr. The Jazz also moved Collin Sexton to the Hornets in a trade for Jusuf Nurkic on Saturday.

As for Clarkson, the talented scorer will likely have plenty of interest on the open market. At this point in his career, it would be safe to assume he’ll be looking for a chance to land with a contending team and might have the opportunity to do that, as plenty of teams could use his scoring ability off the bench.
