Jimmy Butler a Hurdle to Overcome for Favorite Lakers
Shades of destiny permeate the 2020 NBA Finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Miami Heat. Heat swingman Jimmy Butler, though, might just believe he’s making his own destiny.
Jimmy Butler spoke during Miami’s series against Milwaukee about rising to the challenge. Becoming the kind of player who can win a game on his own for the team. The 5 time All-Star has yet to win a championship. It’s something that’s been on his mind for a while.
Butler announced a year ago that he wanted to be a part of the next Miami Heat title run. After an improbable playoff run by the 5th-seed Heat, he will have his chance.
Jimmy Butler reiterated his Championship ambitions during the series against the Celtics. When asked why he was sacrificing family time in the NBA’s Orlando bubble, he said “I’m here sacrificing what I’m sacrificing for my family; I’m going to bring a championship.â€

The Heat will come up against former franchise hero, LeBron James in the Finals VS the Lakers. In many ways, it was always fated to be this way.
LeBron was signed by the Lakers to return them to glory. He will face a Heat team that has had to rebuild after he left them in 2014. Butler, with his drive and confidence, could surpass James in Heat folklore if he leads Miami to a win.

LeBron’s Heat teams were good, but they were not underdogs like the current iteration. If Miami wins, they will be only the second team lower than the 4th seed to win the NBA Finals.
It would be a bigger achievement for Butler and the Heat to overcome the Lakers, LeBron and Anthony Davis. The first game of the NBA Finals series takes place on Wednesday night.
