Joey Bosa Positive After First Chargers Game of the Season
Los Angeles Chargers pass rusher Joey Bosa had an encouraging return from injury on Sunday.
Joey Bosa played his first NFL game of the 2018 season against the Denver Broncos. The Los Angeles Chargers lost the game 22 – 23 in the last minute. The one positive was that Joey Bosa came through the game having completed more work than was anticipated.
“I felt pretty damn good [Sunday],” he said.
“My conditioning, I was scared to get more than 15 (snaps) from conditioning alone because anybody will tell you, playing football and running drills isn’t the same thing. Those long drives in the two-minute, I was gassed for sure, but I felt good. I mean, you’re going to be gassed in two-minute when they’re sprinting down the field running plays, but at no point was it too much or overwhelming.â€

“It was fun playing, wish we could’ve got the win of course, but just to be able to get back out there and kind of know that I’m healthy enough to withstand this stuff (was important).”
Initially, the Chargers only intended for Bosa to play 15 snaps. However, they allowed him more as the game progressed and he was coping well. According to NFL.com, Bos played 28 snaps.

Understandably, Joey Bosa was far from his best against the Denver Broncos. He did still record one tackle and one QB hit.
“(Now) I know my foot can withstand it,” he said, I know my body can withstand it. I was pretty conditioned out there, so this week will be much more about getting back to my technique and worrying about playing and more of the football aspect of it than the health aspect of it.”
