Johnny Manziel’s July 1 Sobriety Off To Shaky Start

The summer of self-destruction marches on for former Heisman winning quarterback Johnny Manziel, whose status as a first round draft bust grows more notorious with each passing public incident.

On Thursday he was hit with a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy, which would probably (though not likely) be a more pressing concern for athlete formerly known as Johnny Football if he actually had a job. It’s hard to imagine his employment status changing anytime soon.

Currently Manziel is facing felony assault charges stemming from an incident of domestic violence with ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley. That’s in addition to a lawsuit seeking more than $40,000 in damages done to a Los Angeles rental property.
