Keep your Eyes On Bortles

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles knew from the beginning that he was not going to be the starting quarterback for his team, but that has not stopped him from looking like one.

The third overall pick in the NFL draft was told very clearly publicly that he would not get the start, therefore there never seemed to be a quarterback controversy in Jacksonville. Now that Bortles has seen some playtime during the preseason, all that may change.

The young quarterback has turned in two awesome showings in preseason games and it is now being reported that he will get some play time against the Detroit Lions tonight and if he keeps up his level of play could win the starting job he was never up for.

Bortles practiced with the first team this week, as well. Chad Henne will still start in Detroit and it is expected that Bortles will enter the game in the second quarter with the first team still on the field. This will truly show what the young QB is made of.

Depending on his showing all the headlines tomorrow could be about how read Bortles is to start for the Jaguars.

Jaguar fans are of course clamoring for just that, hoping he is the saving grace the struggling team has been longing for all these year.

The Lions are the favorites to win this game with a -3 point spread. The games starts at 7:30 p.m. ET.
