Kenneth Walker III Is ‘A Star In The Making’ – Lockett

Seattle Seahawks rookie running back Kenneth Walker III has his teammates raving about him after announcing himself on Sunday.

Kenneth Walker III starred in the 37-23 win over the L.A Chargers, his second career start. He generated 168 yards and two touchdowns, becoming only the second Seahawks rookie to have 150-plus yards rushing and two-plus rushing touchdowns in a game in franchise history.

Kenneth Walker III has nine carries of 10 yards or more since Week 6, more than any other RB in the league.

On Sunday he had a 74-yard run in which he reached a speed of 22.09 MHP. No other ball carrier has reached a faster speed this season.

“That kid is unbelievable, man,” receiver Tyler Lockett said. “He’s a star in the making. The way he gets better each and every week, you can tell the more and more opportunities he gets, the more comfortable he gets, and the more electrifying he is. This is exactly why we drafted him. We knew what he could do, and everybody on the team is excited he’s with us.”

If Sunday was a breakout game for Walker, it was also a breakout game for the Seahawks this season. The win took them to top of the NFC West, a fact Pete Carroll was unaware of before the game.

“Nobody told me that before we started the meetings in there (the locker room). I would have been going nuts about that. That’s fun, too. That’s good,” Carroll said, per the postgame transcript. “Seven weeks in, and look where we are. Who would have thunk it?”

Nobody expected Seattle to top the division considering they compete with the defending-champion Rams, the 49ers and the Cardinals. However with a 4-3 start, the Seahawks are the only team in the division above .500.
