Kevin Durant Claims He Made ‘100 Percent Correct Decision’ To Join Warriors ‘Win Or Lose’
Superstar Kevin Durant is as confident as they come both on and off the basketball court. The one-time NBA MVP has helped lead his new team, the Golden State Warriors, to the NBA Finals and believes and has no doubt that his decision to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder was the right one.
According to an interview with Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated, Durant claims there’s no question that he made the right move to join Stephen Curry and the Warriors:
“I made the 100 percent correct decision, win or lose,†Durant told The Undefeated after the Warriors’ practice at AT&T Center in San Antonio on Sunday. “I feel like this is the place I was supposed to be. I appreciate everything I’ve done before this. But I’m here now, and I feel like it’s a great spot for me to be.
“This is where I am supposed to be at this point of my life. I’m taking it on and conquering every part of it. I’m enjoying every single step.â€
With the Warriors coasting through the NBA regular season and dominating the competition throughout the NBA playoffs thus far, it is hard to argue with the fact Durant did indeed make the right choice. Yes, leaving his longtime teammate Russell Westbrook to fend for himself in Oklahoma City may not have been the best PR move, but it has paid off with Durant being exactly where he wants to be: competing for an NBA championship.
After pulling off the sweep of the San Antonio Spurs on Monday, Durant’s Warriors will have to wait and see who they’ll be facing in the NBA Finals. It will be the team’s third straight trip to the Finals, and potentially the third year in a row Golden State will go head-to-head with LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers who have a 3-1 lead on the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals.
