Khalil Mack Ready to Make Amends for Last Season

Chicago Bears linebacker Khalil Mack says that he can’t wait for the NFL season to kick off. It will be a chance for Mack and the Bears to make amends for their disheartening playoff loss last year.

Despite missing the entire preseason, Khalil Mack is ready to start the NFL year off with a bang.

“So. F***ing. Ready,” he said to  the Chicago Tribune.

His enthusiasm is appropriate, as he will feature in the first game of the new NFL season. His Bears team host the Green Bay Packers at Soldier Field on Thursday night. It is the league’s oldest rivalry and this year it raises the curtain on the NFL’s 100th anniversary.

“It’s been so long, I feel like,” Mack said.

“I’m looking forward to going out there Thursday and getting to the grind with my brothers.”

Mack hasn’t forgotten the opening day loss to Green Bay on his Bears debut last season. He produced a dominant performance, but it wasn’t enough to stop an Aaron Rodgers inspired comeback for the Packers.

“The only thing I can remember now is that we didn’t win the game,” Mack said.

“You know what I mean? Ultimately, you do those things to be in position to win the game. And that’s all I can think about from that game every time I look at the highlights. You still want to win the game.”

The atmosphere around the Bears camp is one of healthy frustration. If they can channel it properly, they will be a high-octane opponent this year.

If you think players don’t take past failures personally, just look at what Mack has to say about playing again.

“I can’t wait to go out and take this out on somebody else,” Mack said.
