LeBron James: ‘I’m Averaging A Triple-Double’ When Asked If He’s Tired During NBA Finals
The first two games of the NBA Finals have been rough for LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The defending NBA champions lost two straight on the road in convincing fashion to the Golden State Warriors and now hope to get back into the series in Cleveland in Game 3.
Ahead of Game 3, LeBron was asked about his energy level and whether he’s tired after basically doing everything for the Cavaliers in Game 1 and 2. James, who has been a bit chippy with the media during the Finals, said the following, via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin:
“Do I look tired?” James said at the Cleveland Cavaliers’ shootaround Wednesday in advance of Game 3 against the Golden State Warriors. “I feel great. I’m averaging a triple-double in the Finals. I’m pretty good, I would think.”
LeBron and company have an incredibly tall task ahead with the Warriors looking virtually unstoppable right now. Kevin Durant is absolutely locked in followed by Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green all playing superbly.
Although LeBron is putting up incredible numbers, he simply doesn’t seem to have the supporting cast that can elevate the Cavaliers over the star-studded Warriors. Kevin Love has played well at times, but Kyrie Irving has struggled, and none of the team’s role players have done much of anything in the first two games.
Heading into Game 3 in Cleveland, the Warriors were favorites once again at -4.5. There’s a chance the Cavaliers keep it close, but there is such a small margin for error that they’ll need to be perfect to pull off the upset on their home floor.
