LeBron James Says ‘Of Course’ Tristan Thompson Will Re-sign With Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been doing everything within their power to keep their roster from last season intact. The Eastern Conference powerhouse has been extremely busy during the NBA offseason in their attempts to bring back their free agents, but have yet to get a deal signed with Tristan Thompson.
Early in the free agency process, the Cavaliers seemed to have agreed to terms with Thompson on a lucrative long-term deal. The deal was said to be in excess of $80 million over the course of the deal.
Unfortunately, nothing is official with Thompson with Cleveland still trying to work towards a deal with the up-and-coming power forward. Superstar LeBron James made an interesting statement on Tuesday night during a Q&A sessions with his followers on Twitter. James was asked whether Thompson would re-sign with the team and the four-time NBA MVP said the following on his Twitter account:
@YrNGiovanni @RealTristan13 Yeah of course he will. Means way too much to our team success!

In 82 games with the Cavaliers last season, Thompson averaged 8.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game while shooting a career-high 54.7 percent from the floor. Thompson’s points and rebounds per game may have dipped from the previous season, but the Texas product has been a solid player for the Cavaliers and definitely deserving of a lucrative contract.
The re-signing of Kevin Love may have complicated things for Cleveland in terms of contract negotiations with Thompson. There may be questions about his role or the money figure may have changed. Regardless of the reason, Thompson remains unsigned and the team’s top priority moving forward.
