LeBron James: ‘This Is Probably The Best I’ve Been’
After making the bold move to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers last summer and with the team struggling in the first half of the season, LeBron James is now cruising with his team coasting into the NBA Finals to face the Golden State Warriors.
With the Cavaliers suffering only two losses in the playoffs thus far, Cleveland is flying high with their superstar leader potentially playing the best basketball of his career. LeBron said the following about his current level of play heading into the Finals, via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin:
“I think if you put it all together, yeah,” James said. “If you put everything together as far as my mind, my body, my game. If you put everything in one bottle, this is probably the best I’ve been.”
Although James feels as if he’s playing the best basketball of his career, the four-time NBA MVP will be facing perhaps the toughest challenge in the Finals against the Warriors. LeBron may have been able to get through most of the three rounds of the playoffs without Kevin Love and a Kyrie Irving nowhere near to 100 percent, but Golden State is another beast entirely.
As of right now, the Cavaliers are the underdogs with the NBA Finals set to get underway on Thursday. According to Sportsbook.ag, Golden State is favored to win the NBA title with a -220 moneyline and favorites to come out on top in Game 1 with a -5.5 point spread.
Despite the series odds, LeBron’s presence alone is enough reason for optimism for the Cavaliers. Irving’s injuries will be a major concern for Cleveland, but the team might be able to pull through depending on LeBron’s ability to put the squad on his shoulders once again.
