LeBron Promises to Continue the Legacy of Kobe Bryant

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has promised the late Kobe Bryant that he will continue his NBA legacy.

LeBron James revealed in an Instagram post that he had spoken with Kobe Bryant on the morning of his death.

Throughout his career, Kobe Bryant was an inspiration and mentor to many basketball players. None more so than LeBron James, who became his heir apparent when he signed with the Lakers in 2018.

The pair were NBA peers for thirteen years, and the Finals featured at least one of them in every year but two. They played together on the USA basketball team, returning the international team to glory with Olympic gold medals in 2008 and 2012.

On Saturday, LeBron James passed Kobe Bryant for third in the all time NBA scoring list. Bryant’s final Tweet was to congratulate LeBron on the achievement.

“I’m Not Ready but here I go,” LeBron wrote.

“Man I sitting here trying to write something for this post but every time I try I begin crying again just thinking about you, niece Gigi and the friendship/bond/brotherhood we had! I literally just heard your voice Sunday morning before I left Philly to head back to LA. Didn’t think for one bit in a million years that would be the last conversation we’d have. WTF!! I’m heartbroken and devastated my brother!! 😢😢😢😢💔. Man I love you big bro.”
