Lions Look to Avoid 0-4 Start on the Road at Seattle

The Detroit Lions will head to the Pacific Northwest on Monday to face the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football bringing to an end Week 4 of the NFL regular season.

The Seattle Seahawks have listed their workhorse running back Marshawn Lynch as a game time decision due to varies injuries, but by most estimates, the talented back will not play.

Heading into the game, the NFC North winless 0-3 Lions are a 10-point road dog against the 1-2 Seahawks.

Lynch is suffering from a tight hamstring with the only remedy being physiotherapy and time. He also has ailments to his calf, back and neck. Seattle is 10-0 straight up and 5-4-1 against the spread in its past 10 games at home when it is favored by 10 points or more.

Without Lynch, the Seahawks might have to pass more using Russell Wilson the quarterback more than usual. The Seahawks need to take advantage of a weak defensive secondary of Detroit and utilize their new tight end Jimmy Graham who they picked up in the offseason from New Orleans.

In each of the first three games, Detroit has allowed a touchdown by a tight end.

This will the third straight game Seattle has played against an NFC North team. Last week they shutout the Chicago Bears 26-0, but lost the week before 27-17 to Green Bay.

The Lions need to attack the Seattle secondary that is less than 100%. Kam Chancellor is back from injury at safety for the Seahawks, but the Lions need to use their All-Pro receiver Calvin Johnson to attack the defensive backfield for the Seahawks.

The Seahawks are 4-1 SU as well as ATS over their past 5 games versus Detroit. The Lions have an unforgiving record against NFC West teams on the road. Detroit is 0-11 SU while 0-10-1 ATS in those contests that date to 2003.

Matthew Stafford the Detroit quarterback has 5 touchdown passes and 5 interceptions this season. Last week in the team’s loss to Denver 24-12, Stafford was sacked four times and threw two picks.

Joique Bell the best rusher between the tackles for Detroit is nursing an ankle injury.

DeAndre Levy the best linebacker against the run for Detroit could return after sitting out six weeks due to an injured hip.

The total has cashed UNDER in 10 of the past 12 Detroit road games. The total has cashed OVER in the past four of six games played by Seattle.

Prediction: Seattle will wear the Lions defense down all game and pull away to win and cover.

Prediction: Seattle 28-17
