Los Angeles Lakers Could Trade For Pistons’ Derrick Rose

The Los Angeles Lakers have just returned to the summit of basketball with their first NBA Title in ten years. However, they are still some distance away from becoming the dynasty they once were.

To solidify its position, the Los Angeles Lakers front office has some work to do with the roster.

Landing Anthony Davis was a masterstroke which propelled them to a championship win. However, they gave up everything to get him. To retain their title, the Los Angeles Lakers will need to do smart business.

In particular, LA could do with a player who can run the offense when LeBron James goes to the bench. Detroit Pistons guard Derrick Rose could be that player.

Per an anonymous GM, the Lakers could go back in for Derrick Rose after sniffing around at the trade deadline.

“I think both sides were reluctant when they went into in January, February,” the GM told Heavy.com.

“I don’t think the Lakers wanted to make a major move because they thought they could do something on the buyout market. And I don’t think the Pistons wanted to make a major move because Derrick was happy there.

“You know, the Lakers wanted to be involved in case the Clippers got involved or someone else, the Bucks or the Nuggets, whoever. So there was interest but not too serious. Now, everything has shifted a little. Now, they’re both in a position to where a deal is much more likely now.”

Rajon Rondo and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope are both expected to become free agents this summer. Avery Bradley and JaVale McGee could also enter free agency. Kyle Kuzma could be a potential makeweight in any Lakers business, but the franchise is undecided on him.

Expect LeBron James and Anthony Davis to have a new-look supporting cast for next season.
