Marcus Peters reflects on Rams trade, blasts Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes

The Kansas City Chiefs has surprisingly agreed to trade All-Pro cornerback Marcus Peters to the Los Angeles Rams. The team was apparently ready to part ways with the outspoken corner. It didn’t take much to get the deal done. Two draft picks were sent to Kansas City in exchange for one of the best defensive players in the NFL.

With Peters now headed for Los Angeles, the 25-year-old talked about the trade and his reaction to it, via NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.

“It’s business. It’s business. And all I can do is just go handle mine. I thank the Kansas City Chiefs for everything they did for me to start it off. Now I’m going to L.A. I’m going to miss playing with my teammates for sure. That’s the biggest thing about this game that you can’t change nothing about the business. Because once you get in that locker room, that’s family. And I miss those guys, man. I miss Eric, I miss Justin, I miss coach Reid.”

Playoffs

Clearly, Peters is going with the professional approach to being traded and that’s probably the best way any athlete can handle being dealt by the team that drafted him. Although Peters said all the right things about the trade, he couldn’t help but take a shot at the Chiefs’ new starting quarterback, Patrick Mahomes II.

The Chiefs and Rams will go head-to-head in Mexico City during the 2018 NFL season and Peters can’t wait to go up against his former teammate. The two-time Pro Bowler already feels like he owns Mahomes, via Rapoport.

“I’m expecting turnovers and I’m expecting a win. He know how to give me the ball. He know how to give me the ball.”

With the stage set for a showdown out of the country between these two teams, Peters just gave everyone more reason to watch to see how it all unfolds. The Rams and Chiefs are potential playoff teams and might even be title contenders depending on moves they make as well as the play of returning veterans.
