Marshawn Lynch will miss ‘an extended period of time’ due to a groin injury
The Oakland Raiders are off to a disappointing start to the 2018 season that has seen them drop five out of their six games played that have put them in the cellar of the AFC West standings.
Oakland was dealt another significant blow with the loss of veteran running back Marshawn Lynch for an extended period of time that could see him miss a few games, according to ESPN.
Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch will miss an extended period of time with a groin injury, a source confirmed to ESPN.
Lynch had been dealing with a groin injury since prior to the season opener against the Los Angeles Rams. He had been able to play through the injury over the last several weeks that led to him undergoing an MRI earlier this week. It appears that the results of that test have led to him deciding to miss some time that has speculated that it could be up to a month.
The Raiders are currently on their bye week, which would mean that he will be out of the mix for at least three games. Lynch has provided steady production out of the backfield this season as he has tallied up 376 yards on 90 carries and three touchdowns along with 15 receptions for 84 yards. This includes a season-high 130 rushing yards in the 45-42 overtime win over the Cleveland Browns in their lone win of the season.
Oakland will likely turn to Doug Martin to carry the workload in his absence while Jalen Richard could factor into the equation as the primary receiving running back.
