Miami Heat Out West to Face Clippers

The NBA Eastern Conference Miami Heat are on a road trip out west. On Wednesday night, the Heat takes on the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The current line has yet to be released on this game, but check back here for the latest line before the game tips off.

Miami entering this game has and overall record on the season of 22-16 straight up and 19-18 against the spread. On the road, the Heat is 7-8 SU and 8-7 ATS. Los Angeles on the season is 25-13 SU and 17-18 ATS. At home, the Clippers are 13-6 SU and 8-10 ATS.

Los Angeles is currently riding a winning streak of nine games, even though the team is playing without star power forward Blake Griffin who has an injured quad and has now missed the past eight games. Nevertheless, the Clippers are averaging over 110 points per game in his absence.

However, each of those wins has been against teams without a winning record. Miami played Golden State tough on Monday before losing by 8 points and falling to 1-2 on its current road trip of six games. Miami is currently on a stretch of playing 14 of its next 16 games on the road.

Miami had three players – Chris Bosh, Luol Deng and Dwayne Wade –record double-doubles in the game versus Golden State.

The Clippers nearly had their winning streak snapped Sunday but survived an overtime battle 114-111 over the New Orleans Pelicans.

DeAndre Jordan the Clippers star center said the team played poorly on Sunday but near the end came together to pull out the win.

Chris Paul the star point guard for the Clippers has averaged 23.7 points along with 12.2 assists per game over the past three games.

Los Angeles shooting forward Paul Pierce has hit just 3 of his 16 shots over the past two games.

Miami center Hassan Whiteside missed Monday’s games with a sore knee and is listed as day-to-day.

The visiting team has covered the spread in each of the past four games played between the two teams.

The underdog has covered the number in 5 of the past 7 games between the two.

Prediction: Miami playing on the road out west is an automatic 2 to 3 points deficit. Los Angeles has won 9 straight without their top scorer Griffin in the lineup. This game will be close, but the Clippers will prevail in the end.
