NBA League Pass to Allow Live Streaming of Games

The NBA will this season provide more ways for fans to watch their favorite teams in never before used mediums. The league will do so via the NBA League Pass, which was developed through the NBA Digital partnership. The initiative will start from the beginning of the 2018 – 2019 season.

Fans will be able to purchase an NBA League Pass, allowing them to watch live games at a discounted price. The NBA League Pass will be available via Turner’s B/R Live streaming service. As well as that, fans can watch games on NBA.com and the NBA app.

At first, fans will be able to purchase a single game and watch it from the end of the third quarter until the end of the game. The price for this will be $1.99. Then, in December, the option to purchase games at the beginning of each quarter will become available. Fans will be able to purchase an entire game for $6.99.

NBA Digital is also working on a model that would allow fans to purchase 10 minutes of access to matches.

David Levy, President of Turner, described these new initiatives as “game-changing”.

“Our partnership with the NBA continues to center on the development of innovative, fan-first products that deliver premium content through an array of touch points and drive consumption across all platforms,” he said.

“These game-changing initiatives will provide fans with immediate access to live NBA action in more ways than ever before.  From live games on TNT and NBA TV to these compelling options for NBA League Pass subscribers, fans will be able to customize the experience to best align with their viewing preferences.”

“The new micro-transaction offerings on League Pass will deliver more customized experiences to meet the needs of NBA fans,” said Adam Silver, NBA Commissioner.  “Instead of waiting to watch highlights after a game, fans will be able to enjoy a portion of a game in real-time.”
