NBA Playoffs: Bulls’ Rajon Rondo Attempting To Return For Game 5 In Boston

The first-round playoff series between the Chicago Bulls and Boston Celtics is tied up at two games apiece. The Bulls took complete control of the series with two wins on the road, but the minute Rajon Rondo went down with a thumb and wrist injury, everything changed.

Chicago will have lost two straight games coming into Game 5 on Wednesday, but there’s a chance Rondo, who has proved to be paramount to the Bulls’ efforts, could return, according to ESPN’s Marc Stein and Marc Spears:

Chicago Bulls guard Rajon Rondo held a clandestine workout Tuesday night in Boston in an attempt to determine if he’s healthy enough to return to the court for Wednesday’s pivotal Game 5 against the Celtics, according to league sources.

Although many believed Rondo’s best days might be behind him, the former Celtics star has proven his worth in this series and Chicago may struggle to advance without him in the lineup.

The series may be tied at 2-2, but the Bulls want to continue their domination of the Celtics in Boston. Isaiah Thomas and company have yet to win a home game in this series, but then again, neither have the Bulls.

Rondo has played well on the home court of his former team and will likely be extra motivated to get back on the floor tomorrow in a game that could tilt scales. Game 6 will be a series-clinching situation of one of these two teams giving the Bulls an advantage in Chicago if they come out with the win on Wednesday in Boston.

If a Game 7 is indeed, the Celtics will host the Bulls at TD Garden on Sunday.
