NBA Playoffs: Clippers Forward Glen Davis Listed As Questionable For Game 7
The season is on the line for a second straight game for the Los Angeles Clippers heading into Game 7 against the San Antonio Spurs at the Staples on Saturday night. Chris Paul and company were able to hold off the defending NBA champions on Thursday night in order to force a Game 7 back at home in Los Angeles.
Unfortunately, the Clippers will likely head into this game without one of their better players off the bench. According to ESPN’s Arash Markazi, Los Angeles could be without Glen Davis on Saturday:
Los Angeles Clippers forward Glen “Big Baby” Davis is questionable for Saturday’s Game 7 against the San Antonio Spurs with a left ankle sprain.
One of the biggest weaknesses for the Clippers heading into the NBA playoffs was their depth. Los Angeles has been criticized all season long for having a weak bench. Despite attempts to improve with the addition of Spencer Hawes, Hedo Turkoglu, Dahntay Jones and Austin Rivers, the Clippers continue to struggle off the bench with Jamal Crawford and Davis helping shoulder the load.
Potentially losing Davis for Game 7 could prove costly against the Spurs who are as deep as any team in the league. Davis played well in the six games prior until going down with the ankle injury, but now head coach Doc Rivers may struggle to keep Tim Duncan contained in the paint or an extra body on the floor.
Currently, the Clippers are favored at -2 over the Spurs in Game 7 even with the uncertain status of Davis for the final game of the series, according to Sportsbook.ag.
Considering the fact this is a home game for the Clippers, the favorable spread comes as no surprise, but the Spurs will definitely not go down easy with plenty of experience in closeout games.
