NBA Rumors: Andre Iguodala Said To Have 7 Suitors In Free Agency
The Golden State Warriors are the cream of the crop in the NBA, and that may not change for many years. Although the Warriors are the team to beat, the may struggle to keep some their important role players on the roster, especially when it comes to Andre Iguodala.
According to Chris Haynes of ESPN, Iguodala already has seven teams vying for his services with the start of NBA free agency only a few days away on July 1:
Andre Iguodala has become the foremost target in an attempt weaken the Golden State Warriors’ chokehold on the NBA, league sources have told ESPN.
The Warriors will do their best to keep Iguodala in the Bay Area as well as re-signing both Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry this summer. Unfortunately for Golden State, the following teams will make it no easy task to bring back the former NBA Finals MVP, via Haynes:
The Minnesota Timberwolves, San Antonio Spurs, LA Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, Orlando Magic, Brooklyn Nets and Utah Jazz are among the teams interested in the 2015 NBA Finals MVP, sources tell ESPN.
At 33, Iguodala is nearing the end of his career in the NBA and the contract he signs this summer may be his last. Even though Iguodala is no longer in the prime of his career, the veteran forward still gives the Warriors an edge and is coming off another impressive performance in the NBA Finals.
All the teams mentioned by Haynes could provide compelling scenarios for Iguodala. Some could be lucrative without much promise for contending for a playoff spot while others may be able to best the Warriors’ offer while also providing an opportunity to win.
Iguodala will have a tough decision to make this summer, but he’ll definitely be in the driver’s seat while having the potential to ink one more lucrative deal.
