NBA Rumors: LeBron James Wants Cavaliers To Trade For Carmelo Anthony

LeBron James’ patience has worn incredibly thin over the past few weeks, and now it appears he wants the Cleveland Cavaliers to make a deal for one of his best friends in the NBA.

The Cavaliers may be forced into making a deal for Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks. Although it was recently reported that the Cavaliers don’t want to give up Kevin Love for Anthony, now that stance may have changed because of LeBron, according to Frank Isola of New York Daily News:

According to a league source, LeBron is the one pushing the Cleveland Cavaliers front office to acquire Carmelo even if it means trading Kevin Love, which is something Cavs management is opposed to doing.

Over the past few weeks, there have been a few trade scenarios floating around the league about Anthony’s immediate future. Anthony, as one of only three players in the league with a no-trade clause, can control his fate.

A frustrating situation for Phil Jackson and company, but may be a promising if they can land a star like Kevin Love in return for the veteran forward. Anthony, of course, would have to approve a deal to Cleveland. His relationship with LeBron and the fact the Cavaliers are a legitimate title contender may make the trade foregone conclusion if Cleveland is willing to give up Love in the deal.

Another possible destination is the Los Angeles Clippers. Anthony may be willing to join Chris Paul and company if the Knicks can put together a trade that works, which may be challenging with the salaries involved and want New York could want in return.

It’s probably safe to assume that the Knicks would pull the trigger on the trade to the Cavaliers if Love would be headed to New York. Only time will tell if LeBron’s voice is heard and a trade is indeed made before the NBA trade deadline on Feb. 23.
