NBA Rumors: Spurs, Clippers, Suns, T’Wolves, Knicks & Heat Among Teams That Made Offers For Kyrie Irving
The Kyrie Irving trade rumors are starting to heat up. The superstar point guard has let it be known that he wants to be traded and teams all over the league are scrambling trying to lure the one-time NBA champion away from the Cleveland Cavaliers.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Cavaliers have been receiving offers from some notable teams thus far:
So far, these are among the teams who’ve made offers to the Cavaliers for Irving, league sources tell ESPN: The San Antonio Spurs, LA Clippers, Phoenix Suns, Minnesota Timberwolves, New York Knicks and Miami Heat.
Of the six teams mentioned by Wojnarowski, four of them were preferred destinations of Irving. The floor general gave a list of teams he’d want to play for if and when traded with the Spurs being the focal point.
Although these teams have made trade offers for Irving, a lot more than half the league has shown interest in the perennial All-Star, via ESPN:
There were approximately 20 teams that inquired with Cleveland upon the news of Irving’s trade request, league sources said, but far fewer have registered legitimate proposals. More loom in the shadows, and many simply don’t have the assets to make a deal happen.
With Irving having no leverage in the situation, there’s no telling when this will get resolved. The Cavs don’t have to trade the point guard, but it does appear to be damage that can’t be repaired in Cleveland.
Irving and LeBron James obviously aren’t seeing eye-to-eye at the moment with little hope of these two superstars being able to coexist moving forward. Only time will tell how this situation will pan out.
