NBA Rumors: Veteran Guard Nick Young Being Pursued By Multiple Teams In Free Agency
Nick Young has been a member of the Los Angeles Lakers for the last four seasons, and it appears he is ready to move on from the purple and gold. Young let it be known during his exit interview that he’d be looking to play for a playoff team in NBA free agency this summer and there are a few intriguing options for the veteran guard.
According to ESPN’s Zach Lowe, Young has received interest from the Golden State Warriors and the New Orleans Pelicans:
Another free agent expected to make his choice today or tomorrow: Nick Young, with GSW and Pelicans among leading bidders, sources say

There’s a fairly big difference playing for the Warriors in comparison to the Pelicans. New Orleans is potentially another year away from competing for a playoff spot in the Western Conference as Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins learn how to play alongside one another. Young will also get more playing time with the Pelicans and a substantially larger contract with more years.
As for Golden State, Young immediate has an option to play for a title-contending team. If he’s a good fit, he may find a home in Oakland for the next few years on back-to-back deals.
Along with the Warriors and Pelicans, the revamped Minnesota Timberwolves are also interested in his services, according to NBA.com’s David Aldridge:
While waiting for inevitable Gordon Hayward Players’ Tribune story…another team making strong push for Nick Young, per sources: Minnesota.

The Timberwolves were already a team on the rise with Karl-Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins, and Tom Thibodeau calling the shots on the sidelines. Now the team has acquired Jimmy Butler while also signing Jeff Teague and Taj Gibson in free agency. Young would provide shooting on an already talented squad that could be bound for the playoffs next season.
It’ll be interesting to see what Young will do this summer, but he has no shortage of suitors with compelling situations.
