NBA rumors: Wizards target DeAndre Jordan ahead of NBA trade deadline
The NBA trade deadline is only days away with plenty of rumors swirling around the league about what may transpire. It appears the Washington Wizards are among the teams that may try to upgrade their roster before Feb. 8 with a particular player in mind.
According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the team is shopping Marcin Gortat around the NBA with their sights set on making a deal with the L.A. Clippers for center DeAndre Jordan.
Washington has expressed interest in LA Clippers center DeAndre Jordan, ESPN’s Zach Lowe reported. Gortat has one year and $13.5 million left on his contract. Jordan can opt to be a free agent this summer.
Jordan has been one of the biggest names circulating around the league regarding a potential deal. The Clippers appear to be at the beginning of an extensive rebuilding process. They have already traded stars Chris Paul and Blake Griffin.
Futures
As for the Wizards, Washington is very much in the hunt for the Eastern Conference crowd even with John Wall out with an injury. Bradley Beal and company are 31-22 at this point in the season and are on the verge of passing up LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers for third place in the conference.
The Wizards’ odds to going the distance this season may not be as favorable as the Cavs or Boston Celtics, but that could change with a blockbuster trade to help bolster their roster for a deep run in the NBA playoffs.
