NBA Trade Rumors: Indiana Pacers Target Point Guard Jeff Teague
With the NBA trade deadline (Feb. 18) less than two weeks away, the Atlanta Hawks are one of the most active teams in the league with talk of the team being ready to break up their core of talented players.
The one name on the Hawks roster that has been mentioned more than any in trade rumors as of late has been point guard Jeff Teague. It appears Teague may be drawing more interest than any other player in Atlanta, and the Indiana Pacers may be the most interested party.
According to ESPN’s Kevin Arnovitz and Brian Windhorst, the Pacers have proposed a deal involving a swap of starting point guards:
The Hawks have been gauging the market for point guard Teague, who has started 345 games for Atlanta over the past four and a half seasons. Sources say the Indiana Pacers have made inquiries and have dangled guard George Hill as a possible swap. The Magic are also potential suitors for Teague, sources confirmed.
The Pacers (28-24) and Hawks (30-24) are currently in very similar situations in the Eastern Conference as the NBA All-Star break draws near. Both teams have shown signs of being forces to be reckoned with in the East but are still far behind the top-tier squads like the Cleveland Cavaliers (37-14) and Toronto Raptors (35-16).
At this point, the Hawks and Pacers are playoff bound in the East and will likely be middle-of-the-pack teams hoping to at least advance to the second round. Atlanta appears determined to make a move and could be one of the biggest sellers on the market while Indiana is ready to bring in the missing piece to the puzzle. Teague could be that missing piece for Paul George and company while the Hawks try to rebuild with Al Horford and Kyle Korver also rumored to be on the trading block.
