76ers rookie Markelle Fultz out indefinitely with shoulder injury

The Philadelphia 76ers have yet another rookie that is struggling to stay healthy in his first NBA season. Top pick Markelle Fultz came into the season with some health concerns, and now it appears they may have gotten the best of him regarding forcing him off the court.

According to ESPN, Fultz has been ruled out indefinitely with a shoulder issue.

The Philadelphia 76ers announced that rookie point guard Markelle Fultz is out indefinitely with a shoulder injury and will be re-evaluated in three weeks.

The past few years have not been kind to the 76ers franchise. After drafting Joel Embiid in 2014 with the third overall pick in the NBA Draft, the promising young center missed the first two years of his career due to persistent injury problems and only played 31 games last year. The bad luck didn’t stop there as last year’s number one pick, Ben Simmons, missed his entire rookie year with a foot injury.

Now it appears the trend may be continuing in Philadelphia with Fultz potentially missing a considerable amount of time with his shoulder injury. Fultz received a lot of criticism for his shooting struggles so far this season and an ugly form at the free-throw line.

The shoulder issue may have been worse than Fultz was letting on leading to the team deciding to shut him down to be reevaluated in three weeks time. It’ll be interesting to see whether Fultz gets better or is sees his rookie season come to an end prematurely.
