76ers star Ben Simmons believes he’s ‘the best defender in the NBA’

The Philadelphia 76ers have emerged as a legitimate title contender in the Eastern Conference this season. Joel Embiid is an MVP candidate, and Ben Simmons is making a strong case for Defensive Player of the Year.

Simmons’ name has been mentioned in trade rumors this season. In spite f this, the 24-year-old has been laser-focused on the basketball floor. Simmons recently talked about his defensive prowess and how he believes there’s no defender in the league better than he is, via Sixers Wire.

“I love the fact that my teammates can look at me and tell me you gotta go out lock this guy up,” said Simmons. “There’s nights guys go off, it’s gonna happen, but most of the time, I feel like I’m doing a good job and making the right plays. I feel like I’m the best defender in the NBA.”

The 76ers sit atop of the Eastern Conference with a record of 18-8. As well as that, Simmons is doing his bit as part of the dynamic duo with Embiid.

The 76ers have proven to be a force to be reckoned with in the East this season. They could contend for a title this season if able to stay healthy. The fact that their two best players are playing the best basketball of their careers is a sign this team may be ready to win it all.

The Lousiana State University product is currently averaging 14.0 points, 8. 3 rebounds, 8.0 assists and 1.7 steals per game for the 76ers.
