76ers star Jimmy Butler ‘aggressively challenge’ Philly coach Brett Brown

The Philadelphia 76ers made a bold move back in November to acquire firey forward Jimmy Butler from the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The blockbuster trade put three star players together forming what would seem to be the NBA’s next super team with Butler joining Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. However, despite team’s success thus far, things might not be all fine and dandy in Philadelphia with Butler reportedly confronting head coach Brett Brown about his role on the squad, via ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne and Adrian Wojnarowski.

Philadelphia 76ers All-Star Jimmy Butler has aggressively challenged coach Brett Brown on his role in the offense, complicating an already tenuous chemistry among the team’s Big Three hierarchy, league sources told ESPN.

This is an interesting development considering the fact Butler will have a decision to make this summer when he officially becomes a free agent and could very well leave Philadelphia. Although this is concerning and will be monitored for the rest of the season leading into the summer, the team will still try to make things work moving forward, via ESPN.

While a source close to Butler contends that his intense, direct style can come off as combative as he is trying to make clear his viewpoints, Butler’s sluggish assimilation into the Sixers environment is causing some concern about his long-term viability and fit with the organization, league sources said. Nevertheless, the franchise’s full focus and resources remain on making this new partnership work this season and beyond.

With Butler having his fair share of dustups with the Chicago Bulls and Timberwolves, it’ll be interesting to see how things pan out in Philadelphia and whether he ends up staying with the team long-term.
