76ers’ Tyrese Maxey Makes Bold Statement About Joel Embiid
Throughout much of his career, Philadelphia 76ers star big man Joel Embiid has struggled to stay on the court because of injuries.
However, there’s renewed hope that the former league MVP may have outgrown his previous injury woes, thanks to a significant change in his physique ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
It’s led his teammate Tyrese Maxey to express that having Embiid around on the court before the start of the regular season “changes everything” for the 76ers.
“You can put in more packages,” Maxey said via ESPN. “There’s been times where he hasn’t been healthy and we get into the game and now we’re trying to learn on the flow.”
It’s been a tough path for Embiid in his first 10 seasons to stay on the court, as he’s never played a full 82 games. He’s averaged only 49 games per season, which doesn’t account for the fact that he missed his first two seasons due to injuries.
When healthy, Embiid has proven to be one of the league’s best players behind his elite play on both ends of the floor. If the 76ers’ revamped roster hopes to make a legitimate NBA title push, Embiid must be healthy and the primary factor.

It’s vitally important that he has been available and has participated in training camp and the preseason, as Philadelphia has had to integrate its new additions, LeBron James and Jaylen Brown, into the fold.
There is a golden opportunity to compete for an NBA championship ahead, and Embiid appears ready for it.
