Andre Drummond may sign with Nets if bought out by Cavs

The Cleveland Cavaliers recently made somewhat of a head-scratching move by being a part of the James Harden trade. The four team mega deal sent the superstar to the Brooklyn Nets from the Houston Rockets. The reason for the confusion was the fact the team acquired yet another solid center in the form of Jarrett Allen. However, they already had Andre Drummond and JaVale McGee on the roster.

With the Cavs stacked at center, Drummond may be looking at greener pastures with Cleveland in the middle of a rebuilding process. The veteran center could seek a buyout and if he does, the Nets would be his ideal destination, according to Zach Harper of The Athletic.

A couple of league sources mentioned after the Harden trade to Brooklyn that it’s a matter of time before he finds his way into a buyout and joins up to give them help with the interior.

The Nets could use a player of Drummond’s caliber, especially after sending Allen to the Cavs. Brooklyn has a gaping hole in the paint and their fatal flaw seems to be on the defensive end of the basketball floor.

Although Drummond isn’t a superstar like Anthony Davis, Giannis Antetokounmpo or Joel Embiid, he’d be a perfect fit in Brooklyn as he can concentrate on crashing the glass and racking up double-doubles on a nightly basis.

In 17 games with Cleveland this season, Andre Drummond is averaging 18.9 points (career high) and 14.7 rebounds per game.
